Cinnamon Roll Dough
  1. In a small bowl, bloom the yeast in the warm water with a teaspoon of the sugar.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the egg, warm milk, melted butter, and sugar together. Add 2 cups of flour 1/2 cup at a time until smooth. Stir in the yeast mixture then continue to add flour 1/2 cup at a time until the dough is soft, not sticky.
  3. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes. Set aside in a covered, greased bowl to rise for at least an hour, until it doubles in size.
  4. Once the dough has risen, punch down and roll out on a floured surface into a large rectangle about a third of an inch thick. (don’t worry, the shape doesn’t have to be perfect.)
  5. For the filling, combine the melted butter, cookie butter, and vanilla extract. Spread out over the dough. Sprinkle on the cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Roll the dough and cut into 1 1/2 inch rounds. Arrange in a baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Top with Cookie Butter Cream Cheese frosting.
