Apple Galette
“The hard choice is usually the right choice.” – someone who made an apple pie instead of an apple galette
Yea, that’s debatable.
Seriously though, when it comes to desserts, I find it best to keep it simple. We had a ton of apples from that time I went to the store thinking, “We’ll eat apples this week!”
What to do?
Well, you pull a Sandra Lee & grab a pre-made pie crust from Trader Joe’s.
Slice up a couple of the apples, toss in some cinnamon, sugar, honey, and butter.
I used one each of granny smith and honey crisp apples for a tasty balance of sweet & tart. Arrange the apples in a fancy pattern & you’re pretty much a professional.
Fold over the edges & don’t worry too much about how it looks. This is a rustic dessert, you can’t try too hard.
Piece of… pie.

- Pre heat the oven to 400F.
- Core & slice the apples in half, then into 1/8 inch wedges.
- In a medium bowl, mix the sliced apples with the honey, sugar, & cinnamon.
- On a lightly buttered cookie sheet, lay out the pie crust. Arrange the apples in a circular pattern starting in the middle of the crust working your way out, leaving about 2 inches of crust uncovered.
- Fold the outer crust in, on top of the apples and dot with the butter.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
